Al-Haq International Law School Program, 12–22 October 2020
The Al-Haq Center for Applied International Law is pleased to announce its Sixth International Law Summer School Program for professionals, legal researchers, post-graduates and academics in the fields of international law and human rights.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and ongoing uncertainty around international travel restrictions, the usual June/July program has been postponed and substituted with an online program during the month of October. Nonetheless, we are excited to announce this virtual school initiative, enabling international and other experts from the region to apply and participate in the program. In previous International Law Summer School programs, our program was limited to nationals from countries permitted entry by the Israeli occupying power. As this year’s program will not require physical presence, accordingly, we are excited to open the door for participants from the MENA region, in addition to the rest of the world, thereby expanding the horizon of this diverse program; bringing in human rights and legal experts from different backgrounds and locations.
The 2020 School program will run entirely online throughout a period of two weeks; 12th – 22th October 2020, with the weekends being free of lectures. All presentations and discussions will take place in English. An Arabic version of the program will also take place in November.
The school aims to assist professionals in developing a coherent understanding of the legal and human rights situation in the OPT while closely studying the application of international law in the OPT. The program offers lectures by human rights professionals, civil society organizations and human rights groups on key human rights issues and trends of violations witnessed in the OPT. This year, the program will take place online and will consists of English lectures in the mornings and afternoons of the weekdays announced.
Al-Haq is an independent Palestinian non-governmental human rights organization based in Ramallah, OPT. The organization monitors and documents violations of human rights, conducts legal research; human rights education; prepares reports, studies and interventions against the violations of international human rights and humanitarian law in the OPT; and undertakes advocacy before local, regional and international bodies.
