Baku, Fineko--The State Town Planning & Architecture Committee of Azerbaijan intends to lay out parks instead of the Baku slum quarters (area of former Sovetskaya and Papanin streets) and build new buildings.
Jahangir Hojayev, head of the Committee`s Department of International Relations & Information, the area will be subjected to reconstruction and land improvement.
"Improvement will be conducted in a way of demolishing of houses [that] are abnormal for life and having no historical or architectural value with following landscaping and construction of modern buildings. Construction of buildings with height of not above 5-7 floors is planned on these streets," he said.
According to Hojayev, these measures will be primarily aimed at improving the living conditions of people living in those areas. The demolition of these buildings is planned until 2030. Original article:
